Writing Tasks Assessment

Our Certified CELPIP Instructors use the same framework for assessing writing tasks as CELPIP Raters.

Task 1:

1. Is the email organized in appropriate paragraphs?
2. Does the email contain effective and detailed arguments?
3. Are ideas organized logically?
4. Does the email include a greeting, opening, closing, and a sign-off appropriate to the task?
5. Does the response have a few grammar and spelling errors?
6. Are transition phrases and conjunctions used to improve the flow of the writing?
7. Does the email address all three of the points included in the prompt?
8. Is the tone of the email suitable for the task?
9. Is the vocabulary suitable for the task?
10. Is the response between 150 and 200 words?

Task 2:

1. Does the response include an opinion statement?
2. Does the response include reasons that expand on opinions?
3. Does the response include examples?
4. Is the vocabulary suitable for the task?
5. Does the response have a few grammar and spelling errors?
6. Is the tone of the response suitable for the task?
7. Is the response organized in appropriate paragraphs?
8. Are transition phrases and conjunctions used to improve the flow of the writing?
9. Are the advantages of the chosen option explained?
10. Is the response between 150 and 200 words?
